Fiber Friends Notes from 10/29/2025
Friends,
We have decided to document resources mentioned during the sharing session in a web-based format for easy production. At the moment, it is housed on the Reed and Flyer website that Lora and Dave use occasionally. If you operate a website in conjunction with your fiber work, please send us a link; we'd gladly add it to the collection. We will not post a Fiber Friend's website without their permission. Hopefully, this will make following up on meeting resources easier. Apologies if we missed something along the way. Images are also linked when websites are available.

The October Fiber Friends stash swap was a HUGE success. It required four eight foot tables to accomodate the wide collection of goods offered by our friends. Gail Else and Michelle Parker took ALL the extra stash items and are making them available to other community residents through the Elizabethtown Thrift shop. Gail writes, "I’m letting a little out at a time. We have customers who know nice goods when they see it." Thanks to everyone who participated!
Dan and Kimmy Rivera shared news of their trip to Rhinebeck and reconnecting with Heidi Fortsch. She was a Rhinebeck vendor for the first time this year and has worked to create a Vermont-made yarn and wool wash. For more information about this product, contact heidi.fortsch@gmail.com.
Referenced by Dave Langston previously. Fiber tools are expensive. Sometimes it is better to take a tool for a "test drive" to see if you need it or if you really want to make the investment.
To list a tool you would like to make available to share, go here.
To seen tool folks have listed and that are available, go here.
Suzy Hokanson has invited all Fiber Friends to participate in the Fiber Arts collective that meets at the Strand Center. Says Suzy, The Next meeting is Wednesday, November 12th. Please contact Suzy Hokanson at SWHFiberWorks@gmail.com to let us know you plan to come or if you have any questions.
Dan & Kimmy Rivera relayed that their friends Cheryl Maid and Gail Huston are going to host a gathering of local weavers and weaver wannabes. Their note says, "We think it would be fun to get together, eat cookies, share weaving talk, and show & tell some of our work to help inspire us to warp our looms and throw the shuttle during the long ADK winter.
We hope you can join us at the Saranac Lake Free Library on November 21st at 2 p.m. in the Cantwell Room.
If you know of other weavers, or wannabes, that might be interested PLEASE pass this information along. "
See the poster for RSVP info.

Just in case you are wondering, we did not create a gallery from every meeting. This happened by accident but it is a fun glimpse at some amazing projects and some great fellowship.
