Holding Space is a collaborative exhibition between the Strand Center for the Arts and BHSN (Behavioral Health Services North). Shelburne Craft School across the Lake in Shelburne, VT, also offers a good selection of classes.  Gail has been to training there and speaks well of her experiences. Check out the selection.

(The note below is reposted from January as folks who have tried this technique indicated that it works.) Sue McHone dropped us a note that we thought would be fun to share and hear if anyone does this at the next meeting.  Says Sue, "I was just reading about “snow washing” on one of the knitting groups I follow. Apparently this is very common in Scandinavian countries. People “wash” their wool sweaters by rubbing them in powdered snow then leaving them out for an hour or two before shaking them out and bringing them in. They also mentioned doing this with wool rugs, handmade and other. I thought the group would be interested in this, as most people put their items out during snow storms. I’d never heard of this before but want to try it. There was also a photo of a metal rack people use for hanging rugs to be beaten, which they say is much better done in winter as the dust doesn’t spread the way it does in summer. The rack looked like a kids swing set without the swings. " Thanks, Sue. I'm tempted to give it a try with some of my yarn skeins.
